Yes, the server was in version X.3 and it has some custom elements like footsteps, audio elements, and we are updating it to the newest version X.5. It's taking time, especially that we were busy with the preparation of the newest patch that we released yesterday, but I think we should be able to start the server soon. I'll let you know when it will be live, and you will also see the online status in the forum in the right section on the main page.
  2. Thanks

These indicators will work only with our VM or Atavism Cloud as it requires additional scripts and configuration, so with your custom installation you will just use typical server side restart command directly through a server console.

So I remember some of the software that I am using now, and me being that type of guy that chases a bone...  and decided that I'd look to see if I had any assets on my NAS drive from the old versions.  Look at what I found...  I remember purchasing this and using it years ago. The differences are well, monumental. What I will say for anyone that reads this buy it. It's that simple. These developers have thought of just about everything. If you have to add something the code isn't very hard to follow. Imagine you make a giant salad with no dressing. (Salad being the software) and you want to add some spice to it. Write your scripts add them to the prefabs and BAM..  it's really that simple to add features that Atavism has not already thought of / implemented already.

Hmmm, now I'm a bit lost. Atavism Manager is a server installation the same as North Networking VM, so you can use one or another, but we should focus on one installation and run it, and if you will want to have also a local one based on the Manager we can move to this later. For North Networking, you can use automatic installation using apanel https://apanel.atavismonline.com/servers
As for the upgrade the procedure is described in details in the section "Update using Atavism Windows Manager Installation" in https://unity.wiki.atavismonline.com/project/atavism-2019-1/
The install button shouldn't be available, as it will recreate your database, it's for the fresh installation and not the update.

Martin (Dragonsan) reacted to dannyjax in Why is setting this up such a chore?
I agree with Killersan that its not ATAVISM. I spent a few days tinkering as I never done this type set up. Handed it over to my 28 year old son who has a degree in programming and an A+ certification (translates to Can Follow Directions and Exhibit Patients). I took an old Lenovo laptop with 4Gig DDR2 memory, wiped it and installed Ubuntu 2016 Server. I turned it over to Jason. He had ATAVISM up and running before I could finish cooking dinner. Less than 45 minutes.
I am here because I was looking for a resolution to the "Could not find Character Template for the Race and Class specified."  I purchased Faces Volume 1 and 2 from Will B Game Art and am trying to get the Orc male and female hybrids into ATAVISM. My son got in the Human male/female and the Elf male/female races, and got in the Orc races from ATAVISM successfully the other day, but he is asleep and has to get up at 4 AM to go to work. I assume it is me as we have been using ATAVISM X On Site for over a week with other races (AMAZING!!! Product).
We were going to buy the Orc, Dwarf and Goblin races from ATAVISM when On Sale for $25 each but I swear going from the shopping to the checkout, the sale ended and the price was full again. We did not have $150, so we went and purchased the Faces vol. 1 and vol. 2 from Will B Game Art as they had a 60% off coupon code. Hopefully we can squeeze out $50 to buy the Dwarf race pack in two weeks and then buy one race pack each month after that. ATAVISM has been working with only issues we cause by not following directions. As far as the "Could not find Character Template for the Race and Class specified.", I obviously skipped something with this specific race and need to discover what it is and if I can not, I will let Jason do it sometime in the next couple days. So it is on to reading the wiki and watching YouTube Videos or let Jason have it tomorrow and I will work tonight on importing Animals from our Protofactor pack.

I found this ATAVISM video, so I think this is what I need to watch.

Edited to say that I was correct in assuming it was not Atavism but in fact was me forgetting something. After updating things like adding a race or tools, weapons, armor, jeweler or other, RESTART THE SERVER. When in doubt, REBOOT THE SERVER if restarting does not do it. If that does not fix it, then shut down the server and give the ram a chance to empty (30 seconds or so). Power it up, then log back in and Start The Server.

Hello. There are lots of tutorials you can use, which you can find on our wiki (https://wiki.atavismonline.com/). For example, here is one related with making a terrain and implementing Atavism https://wiki.atavismonline.com/project/integration-into-existing-scene/ or how to implement new mobs https://wiki.atavismonline.com/project/mobs/

Atavism Toolbox is a small neat program to easily manage your Atavism Game/Server.
With this tool you can do on the fly editing while the game is in public testing, no need to open Unity to tweak items, abilities and so on.
This tool also brings Player & Account Management to the table. This allows you to ban accounts on the fly. Or make an account a Game Master.
With the Game Editor, you can edit many of the core settings of the server. Quad tree, logging, enable/disable new account registrations and much more!
Event Scheduler will allow you to schedule events like double EXP weekend.
And as if that wasn't enough, this tool also have a Auto Installer for the Atavism Server. Yes! We are bringing a One-Click install for Atavism Server on Linux based servers.
This one-click installer will install and setup absolutely everything you need to run Atavism. It will install java, MySQL, Secure MySQL, config auth&world.properties. It is basically one-click and login and play.
    And a lot more.
There is 2 versions. Lite and PRO
Lite is free and PRO costs €3.99/month
    Features:
Restart Server Restart World Server Restart Auth Server Atavism Server Auto Installer Advanced Game Editor (PRO) Schedule Events (PRO)* Check Server Status Check Server Stats See Atavism Stats Item Editor (PRO) Ability Editor (PRO) Effect Editor (PRO) Account Management (PRO) Ingame Message (PRO)* Issue several maintenance commands Player management (PRO)* * Still work in progress

Atavism Toolbox Lite can be downloaded here: https://client.northnetworking.com/dl.php?type=d&id=8
Atavism Toolbox PRO can be ordered here: https://client.northnetworking.com/cart.php?gid=20

Yes, we want to prepare more complete animation controller, but we don't have our own animations, so we cannot redistribute them. But you can see them in action in the demo, which as any element can be improved. Anyway, we are working on that part, to forge new cooperations, fill that gap, and make Atavism even more complete.
Server-side physics is on our list for 2020, but we will see what will be on the roadmap presented in February 2020.
We already started working on the next release, which is planned for November, so stay tuned

Yes, it would be nice to have a separate Atavism Editor outside Unity, but I think the present version which is inside Unity which we rewritten is much better, faster, has copy paste functionality, multilanguages support, options to restore deleted data or delete them permanently, keeping some important constraints in terms of instances or combat, it's scalable so you can resize its area properly. So, there are lots of new features and it's working super fast because of no caching overhead.
Also, there is one downside of such software (it should be available for all platforms like Windows, Linux, Mac), and not everything would be possible with it, for example saving objects from the scene like regions, interactive objects, resources, etc.

Thank you for your opinion. If we will decide to start development Atavism for UE4, we will for 100% do it by building a separate team. We will keep the progress which we are making In Unity area.
This is already possible. I mean you can implement any model to your game based on Atavism, without coding. Here is how to implement new character model https://wiki.atavismonline.com/project/character-model-race-and-class/ or how to integrate your existing scene (environment) with Atavism https://wiki.atavismonline.com/project/integration-into-existing-scene/ and there are much more tutorials on the wiki related to different aspects of the Atavism.

Username: root (for localhost) or atavism (for your IP)
password: test (for root username) or atavism (for atavism username)

We are new Atavism owner since November 2017. We fixed lots of elements and released the final version of Atavism 2.x which is 2.7 (there won't be 2.8 version).
With the new release of Atavism 2018.1, we introduced paid updates, as maintaining and providing free updates to 300 000 lines of code software is not possible. So, you can check our FAQ https://www.atavismonline.com/store/f-a-q how and what you will get by getting extending your maintenance for your Atavism License, here are release notes of Atavism 2018.x releases:

Here you will also find progress with the new release of Atavism 2018.3
    https://www.atavismonline.com/atavism/roadmap
We improved documentation, recorded many (over 40) tutorials on how to use Atavism, which can be found both on our documentation page: http://wiki.atavismonline.com but also on our "wall of tutorials" https://www.atavismonline.com/store/tutorials
You can also join our discord server and talk with other developers to check their opinion what progress we made with Atavism https://discord.gg/z95htJA
Atavism 2018.1 also comes with a totally new demo with many examples how to use it and package which you will get within Atavism 2018.1 is similar to the Atavism Live Demo which you can download and play here https://atavismonline.com/images/AtavismLiveDemo/AtavismDemo64.msi

Not sure what exactly you have in mind. If you had some case which was resolved/explained on the discord, then it won't be on the forum as we are responding on the same channel where developer asked a question, but we are thinking of implementing a bit different approach like Jira with customer portal, which is already installed, but we will need to migrate our repository there.
